Yesterday we celebrated Christmas with my extended family. It was our first family Christmas in years and it was really great. I saw many of my cousins 2 years ago at the Griffin + Donnelly Christmas party but this year it was Griffins-only, which made it feel a lot more personal and much less overwhelming. I talked a lot about my job and I ranted a bit because I was nervous. A couple of times I thought, “Jeez, I am making myself sound really DUMB!” Everyone seemed happy for me, I just hope I didn’t come off sounding idiotic.
My aunts, uncles, and cousins are all doing really well. The cousins especially are all very smart and seem extremely well-adjusted. As Al pointed out, they all seem so NORMAL. My mom is the closest thing to the “black sheep” and that’s only because she distances herself from the rest of the family. (I still don’t know why..) They’re just a bunch of really nice, genuine people and it was wonderful being able to see them again.
I’m currently trying to put together a list of New Years Resolutions. I definitely have a lot of changes I want to make in 2010, specifically focusing on weight loss and my state of mind regarding relationships. I will be sure to post that ASAP.
